Trimble County Cancels Their Football Season Weeks Before it Begins

August 1, 2018

Just weeks before high school football begins throughout the country, one local school is going to sit this one out.

An open letter from Trimble County’s Junior/Senior High School Principal Tracy Poe reveals the reason why the Raiders won’t be seen on a football field near you anytime soon.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the cancellation of the 2018-19 football season for the JV/Varsity level, due to low player interest and turnout at beginning of season practices.

The timing of this decision has been influenced by KHSAA (Kentucky High School Athletic Association) requirements involving player transfer and cancellations of seasons.

We greatly regret that we will not have a football program this year, and look forward to the possibilities of reestablishing the program in the future.”

Before this announcement, the Trimble County Raiders were set to play Eminence on Friday, August 17th, 2018.
