


Traffic stop leads to drug dealing charges
On Monday, April 18, 2016 at about 11:45 AM K9 / Sergeant Andrew Richmond made a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest and charging of the driver for dealing and possession of methamphetamine among several charges.
K9/ Sgt Richmond observed a gray Mini Cooper which committed a moving violation. K9 / Sgt Richmond initiated a traffic stop on the gray Mini Cooper. K9 Sgt Richmond became suspicious of criminal activity and called for assistance at the scene and then used his K9 Heros to detect for illegal drugs. Heros alerted and in the following search syringes, scales, packaging materials and other paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. The driver, Joshua A. Matteson, 19, of North Vernon, was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.
Matteson was arrested and charged with the following :
Dealing in methamphetamine level 5 felony
Possession of methamphetamine level 6 felony
Possession of syringe level 6 felony
Possession of paraphernalia A misdemeanor
