Tornado Watch Currently in Effect for the WKM Viewing Area

April 3, 2018

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 8:00PM for Jefferson, Jennings, Scott, Ripley, Trimble, Carroll, Switzerland and many other counties in the Kentuckiana area.

A tornado watch is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms, capable of producing tornadoes. It implies that it is also a severe thunderstorm watch.

A tornado warning, which has not currently been issued, is a warning that a tornado has been spotted by the public, storm chasers, emergency management or law enforcement.

Simultaneously, a wind advisory remains in effect until 10PM this evening.

Winds south to southwest of 20 to 30 miles an hour may produce gusts up to 45 mph.

This could blow loosely secured outdoor objects around and some tree limbs may come down.

Driving may become difficult, especially for trucks, vans and SUV’s traveling on east to west roadways.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will affect the area at the same time.
