A Madison, Indiana man has been charged with Armed Robbery, Battery with deadly weapon and Criminal Confinement.
According to the Madison Police Department, on December 23rd just before 6:00PM, a victim reported finding one Austen Riley, 22, inside their home and when he was confronted, it is alleged that Riley struck them in the head with a tire iron, a steel lever used for removing tires from wheel rims.
After being called to the scene where this is reported to have taken place in the 100 block of Taft Drive, authorities indeed found the apartment resident bleeding heavily from the head.
He was taken immediately to Kings’ Daughter’s Health for treatment of these injuries.
Riley himself was found almost 3 hours later by police and in his possession was the victim’s cell phone, apparently stolen from the apartment during the time of the incident.
Austen A. Riley had his initial court hearing with the Jefferson County Circuit Court on Wednesday, December 26th and was charged with the felonies of Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Armed Robbery, Criminal Confinement and Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.
The judge set his bond at $50,000 cash and a trial date for April 16th, 2019.
