Swiss Wine Festival President of Last 23 Years Passes Away at 53

March 8, 2018

For the past 23 years, the successful Swiss Wine Festival in Vevay, Indiana has been a celebration of history, family, community, fun-loving spirit and of course wine. Another constant during that time was the main man behind the scenes and often in front as well.

Kirk Works, who was 53 years old, passed away on Wednesday, March 7th at Kings Daughters Health in Madison after a battle with cancer.

Works was president of the Swiss Wine Festival for 23 Years and in the below video, we sat down with him last summer to talk about the festival itself, the history of his county, and helping run the huge event that he truly loved:

Kirk also served a term on Vevay Town Council.

Last month, the town renamed a street at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park, where the Swiss Wine Festival is held, to Kirk Works Way as a show of the town’s appreciation of his many years of community service.

Plans for visitation and funeral services will be announced soon by Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay.

From WKM News and many others, the man will be missed.
