Phone Scam Occurring in Indiana Involving the State Police
According to Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, the Indiana State Police has been getting reports from people saying they have been scammed by callers who claim to be representatives of the state police.
Wheeles states that the Indiana State Police will not call you and ask you for your personal information.
If you receive an unexpected call from someone saying they are with the state police or a local police agency, take down the "officer's" name and then contact your local state police post or police department.
Never give out your personal information or bank account/credit card information to anyone over the phone.
