A pedestrian walking along State Road 101 was struck by vehicle around 8:40pm on October 17th.
According to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department the pedestrian, 15 year old Christopher Jones of Vevay was walking northbound near the area of 8668 N SR 101.
Jones stated that he fell in the ditch while walking alongside the road, when he got back onto the road he was stuck by a northbound 2000 Ford F350 truck driven by 17 year old Shawn Reed of Sunman.
Reed stated that he thought he ran into a deer, so he turned his truck around to check. He then noticed he had struck a person.
Jones was then transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.
