Ohio Theatre Announces Halloween Movie Schedule ~ Showtimes and Descriptions

Madison’s Historic Ohio Theatre has announced it’s Fall Schedule of Screenings and They Look to be Quite a Spooky Hoot!

On Saturday, September 30th, at 7:00PM, Dr. Kelli Hertz along with Doug and JoAnne Spiller present the 1974 American Comedy Horror Film YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Starring Gene Wilder and Directed by Mel Brooks, this classic took a risk by shooting in black and white and is a wildly popular and loving parody of the classic Frankenstein films by MGM and author Mary Shelley. This film is 1 hour and 45 minutes and is rated PG.

 

On Saturday, October 7th, at 7:00PM, Nice Shots! Photography present the 1944 Dark Comedy ARSENIC & OLD LACE. Starring Cary Grant and Directed by Billy Wilder, this classic is an adaptation of the famous Joseph Kesselring play and features elements of the upper class, religion, insanity, hijinks and murder. This film is 1 hour and 58 minutes and is Not Rated.

 

On Friday, October 13th, at 7:00PM, Century 21’s Jason Schafer presents the 1981 Slasher Film FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART 2. Directed by Steve Miner and starring relatively unknown actors, this first sequel to the popular first film from the year previous is known as the first Friday the 13th movie in the franchise (which consists of 12 so far) that features the famous character Jason Voorhees as the evil villain. This film is 1 hour and 27 minutes and is rated R.

 

On Saturday, October 21st, at 7:00PM, North Madison Veterinary Clinic presents the 1988 Comedy Fantasy film BEETLEJUICE. Starring Michael Keaton and Directed by Tim Burton, this critical and commercial success about a wacky and rude ghost was the first movie Burton made after Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and was a year before he directed 1989’s Batman. This film is 1 hour and 32 minutes and is rated PG.

 

 

On Friday, October 27th, at 7:00PM, Furniture & Things present the 1986 Musical Horror Comedy LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.Starring Rick Moranis and Directed by Frank Oz, this big budget adaptation of the hit off-Broadway play takes a look at a nerdy florist who discovers his venus fly trap plant can not only talk, but screams ‘Feed Me, Seymour!’ when hungry for blood. This film is 1 hour and 34 minutes and is rated PG-13.

On Sunday, October 29th, at 7:00PM, Sugar on Main presents the 1995 Computer Animated Fantasy Comedy CASPER. Starring Christina Ricci and Bill Pullman, this was the first film to feature a fully CGI character in a leading role and is loosely based on the famous comic strip Casper the Friendly Ghost. This film 2 hour and 41 minutes and is rated PG.

 

 

And last but not least, on Saturday, November 4th, at 7:00PM, Friendship State Bank presents the 1962 Psychological Horror film WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?. Starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford later in their career and Directed by Robert Aldrich, this cult classic was helped by the real off-screen rivalry of it’s two leading ladies, highlighted in the recent television mini-series Bette & Joan. This film is 2 hours and 14 minutes long and is Not Rated.
