Edwin Goebel
Edwin H. “George” Goebel, 83, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and formerly of Madison, Indiana, died May 5, 2020.
He was born June 6, 1936, in Madison, to Eva and William Goebel. He spent his early years in Madison until he joined the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He worked and retired from Coltec Industries, Fairbanks Morse Engine Division.
Survivors include his son, William Goebel; his daughters, Chelley Merrell and Carla Goetz; his siblings, Ann Ison, James Goebel and David Goebel; and four granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly Goebel; and a brother, Paul Goebel.
Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Benjamin Linville
Benjamin Dale Linville, 45, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at his residence in Madison.
He was born on April 30, 1975, in Madison, to Russell Neal and Gail F. Hay Linville. He was a chef and had worked at Madison Country Club, Cinnamon Tea Room and at restaurants in Cincinnati and Evansville. He was a member of the West Madison Methodist Church and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 American Legion in Madison. He enjoyed cooking for his family and traveling around the country and world.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Russell and Katie Neal of Madison; his mother and her companion, Gail Linville and Rob Streeting of Madison; a sister, Sara Caldwell of Madison; a brother, Clinton Neal Linville of Madison; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Lark of Madison; his paternal grandmother, Mary K. Farone; and an aunt and his nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gene Hay and his paternal grandfather, Robert Linville.

Donna McLarnan
Donna Sue Scroggin McLarnan, formerly of Dupont, Indiana, died April 30, 2020 in Florida.
She was born to Wallace and Leota Scroggin, and lived most of her life in the Dupont area before moving to Florida to be near her sisters.
She is survived by a son, Michael Dicken of Columbus, Indiana; a daughter, Shannon Manigualt of Yuma, Arizona; four sisters, Janice Conley and Cathy Stanley of Bunnell, Florida, Deborah Righthouse of Dupont and Pam Mountcastle of Daytona Beach, Florida; two brothers Larry Scroggin of Commiskey, Indiana and Ronald Scroggin of Dupont; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Steve Mosier
Steve A. Mosier, 64, of Madison, Indiana and formerly of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Scottsburg, to Melvin Earl Mosier and Hazel Carol Stamper Mosier. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1974 and was a former supervisor for the former Scottsburg Foundry in Scottsburg, where he worked for more than 20 years. He also had worked at Madison Precision Products Inc. in Madison. He liked to play cards and bowl. He enjoyed being outdoors and liked fishing and hunting mushrooms.
Survivors include his companion, Teresa Jester of Madison; two daughters, Erica Cook of Sellersburg, Indiana and Kayla Hardin of Scottsburg; a son, David Mosier of Salem, Indiana; a sister, Kim Richey of Scottsburg; and seven grandchildren and and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeff Mosier.
Graveside services were Monday, May 11, at Scottsburg Cemetery.

Zelma Abbott
Zelma Belle Hall Abbott, 99, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Kentucky.
She was born May 2, 1921, in Charlestown, Indiana, to William Thomas Sr. and Mildred Neal Hall. She was a farmer, having worked in tobacco alongside her husband on their farm for 35 years. She was a member of Bedford Baptist Church, the Trimble County Homemakers and enjoyed cooking big Sunday and holiday meals.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Allen Abbott, John Larry Abbott and Chris Abbott, all of Milton, Kentucky; two daughters, Vickie Chism of Eminence, Kentucky, and Karen Denise Robins of Milton; two sisters, Deanie Warner and Sue Louden, both of Madison; and 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Earl Abbott Jr., her second husband, Robert Dunlap; a son, William Arnold Abbott; three brothers, Milton Alonzo Hall, Todd Hall and William “Jr.” Hall; and two sisters, Louise Stethen and Wilma Jones.
Private family services will be conducted due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Interment will be in Bedford Cemetery there.

Phillip Aldridge, 69, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Signature Healthcare of Carrollton in Carrollton, Kentucky.
He was born May 7, 1951, in La Grange, Kentucky, to Vance N. and Ethel Mae Horine Aldridge. He was a tipper at Harrods Creek Sanitation for many years and enjoyed spending time with his great nephew.
Survivors include his brother, Rickie Aldridge of Bedford; his sisters, Kathy Rison of La Grange and Rowena May of Bedford; and two nieces and a nephew, one great niece and two great nephews and two great-great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William S. Aldridge and Michael Aldridge; and a sister, Gertrude Aldridge.

Gerald Gray
Gerald Lee “Jerry” Gray, 58, of Bennington, Indiana, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, near his residence from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born Sept. 21, 1961, in Cincinnati to Thomas E. and Patricia Gail Daniels Gray. He was raised in Cincinnati, received his General Education Diploma from the State of Florida and worked in construction for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and building his daughter’s race car, dirt track racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Tammy Lynn Arbogast Gray of Bennington; his daughters, Elizabeth Jackson of Deltona, Florida and Patricia Clark of Cocoa, Florida; his step-daughters, Brandy Strand of North Vernon, Indiana and Amber Wood of Pueblo, Colorado; his brothers, Tim Gray of Cocoa, Tom Gray and Tony Gray, both of Cincinnati, Terry Gray of Osgood, Indiana and Sam Gray of Punta Gorda, Florida; and seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Ostholthoff.

John Houze
John William Houze, 91, of Aurora, Indiana, died Sunday, May 10, 2020, at the Shady Nook Care Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
He was born Jan.11, 1929, in Moores Hill, Indiana, to Dilver C. and Emma F. Ryle Houze. He was raised in Aurora where he attended school. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 21, 1948, and rose to rank of Private and completed the enlisted motor and track vehicle course from April 1 to July 29, 1949, at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He served in Germany and was transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves on March 14, 1950, and honorably discharged with rank of Sergeant First Class on Aug. 1, 1961. He was employed as a supervisor for Alton Box in Aurora, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter and chief for Aurora Fire Department No. 1 and No. 2 for 14 years. He resided in Aurora since 1949 and enjoyed driving around and traveling.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Romans of Dillsboro, Indiana, and Jackie Votaw of Aurora; his sons, Garry Houze of Knoxville, Tennessee and John W. Houze Jr. of Covington, Kentucky; his brother, Bobby Houze of Lawrenceburg; and 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Ella Frances Curlin Houze, on Jan. 20, 2020; his daughter, Linda Kay Houze Lansing; his infant sister, Ionia Marie Houze; his brothers, Edward and Cecil Houze; and a grandson.
Private funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, Indiana. Private family visitation will be from noon until time of service with COVID-19 restrictions observed.
Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post No. 185 and the Vevay VFW PostNo. 5396 in the Fredonia Cemetery in Vevay.

Rhonda A. Youngblood Moore, 39, of Muncie, Indiana, died Friday, May 8 , 2020, at Ambassador Health Center of Centerville.
She was born Aug. 20, 1980, in Madison, Indiana, to Robert Jr. and Carol Wright Youngblood. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Alex Moore, of Muncie; her children, Autumn Harris, Shannon Harris, Nathaniel Erhart, Eli Erhart, Hunter Moore and Baylee Grace Moore; and her brothers and sisters, Rob Youngblood III, Brian Youngblood, Mike Youngblood, Sam Youngblood and Mary Youngblood.

Barbara A. Truesdell, 74, of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
She was born May 16, 1945, in Kentucky, to William “Willie” and Ollie Spears Surratt. She was a homemaker and had previously worked in the kitchen at the Clifty Inn Restaurant and enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, old western movies and needlepoint.
Survivors include her children, Stafford Leroy Truesdell, Diana May Larrison and Norma Jane Truesdell, all of Madison; her sisters: Ruby Surratt and Janet Surratt, both of Madison; and several grandchildren and her caregivers, Kent Simpson and Patty Britt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Leroy Truesdell, on Feb. 12, 2007; a sister, Betty Surratt; and her brothers, Donny, Billy and Raymond Surratt.

Wilma White
Wilma Catherine White, 99, of Vevay, Indiana and formerly of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Vevay.
She was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Mt. Sterling in Switzerland County, Indiana, to William and Lou Ollie Lothridge White. She grew up in Switzerland County and attended school there and lived in Cincinnati many years before moving to Madison in 1980. She had worked during World War II in the aluminum industry, and at Fernal Plant in Ohio. She was a beautician, a shoe salesperson at Ludwig Shoe Store in Cincinnati and at Hertz Shoe Store in Madison when she retired. She was a member of First Christian Church in downtown Madison.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Harold Wayne and Larry White, Jim and Bill White, Janice McNear, Jean Voyles, Glenda Cox, Denny and Lonnie Monroe, Pam Schmidt, Paula Burkot, Billy and Brian White, and Mary Potter; her caregivers Frances and Larry Green of Madison; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Walter “Jim” White, William D. “Red” White, Richard Edwin White, John “Dubby” William White and George Lee White; her sisters, Dorothy Leona White, Mary Jane Schmidt, Lorraine Monroe and Shirley Ann Screes; and her nieces, Georgeanna Beard and Kathy White and nephew, Steve White.

Darwin Howard
Darwin H. “Budman” Howard, 67, of Owenton, Kentucky, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home in Owenton.
He was born on July 31, 1952, in Carthage, Indiana, to Walter “Skeet” Howard and Opal Campbell Howard. He was a 1971 graduate of Knightstown High School in Knightstown, Indiana, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was one of the original Millwright workers for North American Stainless in Ghent, Kentucky, starting in 1990. Over the years he also worked for various contracting companies with North American Stainless.
Survivors include his sons, Philip Stephens of Ghent and Daniel Howard of Carrollton; a daughter, Rachel Wilson of Owenton; two stepsons, Ricky and Kevin Clarkson of Owenton; a stepdaughter, Samantha Clark of Owenton; a brother, Ron Howard of Knightstown; three sisters, Joan Hale of Sebring, Florida, Dixie Jones of New Castle, Indiana and Kathi Glover of Knightstown; and 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Louise Howard, in 2016; a daughter; Traci Howard, in 2017; and two brothers,Thomas Jackson and Marty Jones.
Cremation was chosen by the family with private memorial service at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will be in the Worthville Cemetery in Worthville, Kentucky.

William Long
William Everett “Bill” Long, 69, of Carroll County, Kentucky, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at Baptist Health of Louisville.
He was born on May 18, 1950, in Louisville, to Charles Franklin “Frank” Long and Lucille Estelle Ashby Long. He grew up on a farm and was proud to say he was a “Locust Squirrel.” He started a career in cross country trucking in 1970 and owned and operated Long Trucking and Leasing. He leased to Parkhill/Tri State until 1984 and went out on his own with Long Trucking until 1999. From 1999 to 2012 he worked for International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 181 before retiring in 2012 due to his health.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Denise Lynn Raymer Long; three sons, Wyatt Everett Long, Hyatt Dee Long and Benjamin Lynn Long; his sister, Alice Rae Long Burke; and three grandsons and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Norma Rosalyn Long McAlister in 1980.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Kentucky. Funeral services will be private but broadcast live at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, on the funeral home Facebook page.

Minnie Reed
Minnie Joyce Perry Reed, 79, of Hanover, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at the Hanover Health and Rehab Center in Hanover.
She was born Sept. 2, 1940, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Charles and Edna King Perry. She was raised in Hazard and later lived in Lexington, Kentucky and then in Ohio. She worked early in life in the cafeteria at Lawrenceburg Elementary School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and then was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed reading books, quilting, sewing and loved her dogs. She was a member for many years at Brushy Fork Baptist Church and more recently at Bible Baptist Church in Greendale, Indiana.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Gammons of Lexington, Indiana and Catherine Beth West of Orlando, Florida; her sons, Kevin Reed of Dillsoro, Indiana and Gregory Paul Reed of Madison, Indiana; her brothers, Gordon Dale Perry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, David Perry of Lebanon, Ohio and Henry Perry of Chillicothe, Ohio; her sister, Pam Murphy of Troy, Ohio; and 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 23 years, Paul Morgan Reed, in 1982; a daughter, Melissa Hatchell, in 2019; and her sisters, Annie Perry, Frances Mershon and Molly Perry.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 18, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Cemetery in Pleasant, Indiana. Nancy Karen Pettit Burrows, 68, of Sligo, Kentucky, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at her home in Sligo.
She was born May 21, 1951, in Bardstown, Kentucky, to Charles Hayden and Bernice Colbert Pettit.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Scott Burrows, of Sligo; a daughter, Regan Nicole Burrows of Ghent, Kentucky; a son Casey Austin Burrows of Crestwood, Kentucky; a sister Charlie McCoy of Milton, Kentucky; a brother Gordon Pettit of Milton; and four grandchildren and one Godchild, Macee Jean Callis, of Bedford, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, William Earl Burrows.

Juble Hendricks
Juble Edward Hendricks, 69, of Madison, Indiana, died Thursday, May 14, 2020, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
He was born Dec. 18, 1950, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Tolbert Thomas and Emma Lou Painter Hendricks. His family settled in Madison in 1954 when his father went to work at Indiana Kentucky Electric. He was a 1968 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and a 1972 graduate of Indiana State University. He worked for the City of Madison water department and in occupational therapy at the Madison State Hospital. He then moved to New Orleans and worked in the plumbing industry, eventually returning to Madison to work 15 years at A-1 Plumbing and Heating. He was currently a direct service professional for Developmental Services.
He was raised in the North United Methodist Church and was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion in Madison. He enjoyed reading novels and books on history, was a fan of the NBA and the NFL and an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints.
Survivors include a sister, Donna Adams Phillips of Sellersburg, Indiana; a nephew, Troy Adams of Madison; his great nephew and great niece, John Mitchell Adams and Sarah Adams; an aunt, Garnet Hedge of Ohio; and four cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Fred Monroe.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens there. Gary Johnson
Gary Lee Johnson, 75, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Norton Hospice Pavillion in Louisville.
He was born Aug. 26, 1944, in Carrollton, to Allen and Retha Wilson Johnson. He was a retired corrections officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange, Kentucky, where he was coordinator of Emergency Services. He formerly drove a truck for Ford Motor Company. He attended English Christian Church near Carrollton and enjoyed car rides and visiting with family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include a daughter, Christi Lynn Johnson of Carrollton; a brother, Tony Johnson of Carrollton; a sister, Eva Allen of Rittman, Ohio; and nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emileeta Lawson Johnson, in 2015; a son, Leonard A. Johnson, in 2017; and a brother, John Allen Johnson, in 2005.
Private funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, May 20, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will take place in the English Cemetery near Carrollton.

Larry G. Ward, 76, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, May 15, 2020, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
He was born Oct. 23, 1943, in Bethlehem, Kentucky, to Vernon and Hettie James Ward. He was raised in Eminence, Kentucky, and graduated school there. He worked early in life as a general manager for McDonald’s Restaurants in Shively, Kentucky. He retired from AAFES and worked as a general manager setting up Burger King Restaurants in Germany, North Dakota and other areas. He was raised in the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, watching sports, especially UK, and being with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Lynn Harville of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a son, Richard “Buddy” G. Ward of Smyrna, Tennessee; three stepsons, Michael W. Jensen of Ormond Beach, Florida, Richard Thomas “Rick’ Jensen of Radcliff, Kentucky and Rory Scott Jensen of Madison; two sisters, Judy Neal and Faye Courtney, both of New Castle, Indiana; and four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by parents; his wife of 11 years, Janet Irene Skaggs Ward, on May 3, 2007 and his first wife, Patty Wilson Ward, on Sept. 11, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2020, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison. Friends may visit Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
