Leola Brinson
Leola Maxine Dennis Brinson, 91, of Benham, Indiana, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Jewel Place in Madison, Indiana.
She was born Feb. 2, 1929 in Ohio County, Indiana, to McKinley and Esther C. Richards Dennis. She was raised in Ohio County, Indiana, and was a 1947 gradate of Dillsboro High School. She married in 1948 and had five sons. She was employed as a custodian for the South Ripley School Corporation in Versailles, Indiana, retiring after several years of service. She was a 60-plus-year member of Cross Plains Baptist Church where she held various offices and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and collecting rocks.
Survivors include her sons, Wendell Wade Brinson of Benham, Clay Hale Brinson of Sebastian, Florida, Tim Randall Brinson of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Kim Randolf Brinson of Benham and Kerry Lane Brinson of Canaan, Indiana; a brother, Raymond Dennis of Bear Branch, Indiana; and 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 50 years, Wilbur Brinson Jr., on March 30, 1998; her sisters, Betty Jean Williams and Gladys LaVerna Alford; a brother, Lowell McKinley Dennis; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Benham Cemetery in Ripley County, Indiana, with masks and social distance requested due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Gerald Gardner
Gerald Lee Gardner, 82, of Pendleton, Indiana and formerly of Alexandria and Madison, Indiana, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at his home in Pendleton.
He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Peoria, Illinois, to Fletcher Lloyd and Marie E. DeVries Gardner. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a 1956 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School in Madison and served in the U.S. Air Force and the Reserves for six years and was honorably discharged. He was owner of Central Carpet Store in Alexandria since 1972 and enjoyed his many trips back to Madison to be with his fellow high school graduates, friends and family.
Survivors include his companion of 15 years, Robin Love, of Pendleton; his daughter, Tina Marie Uccello of Pendleton; his grandchildren, Louis Uccello and Vincent Uccello; and seven nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lloyd Francis Gardner and Robert E. “Bob” Gardner.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Madison. Visitation is 1 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.

Roderick Jones
Roderick Mitchell Jones, 36, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, June 5, 2020, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on July 22, 1983, in Fort Defiance, Arizona, to Ricky and Verna A. Sandoval Jones. He married and lived in Prescott, Arizona, for many years before moving to Madison on March 7, 2020. He was an arborist and had worked at Clifty Garden Center for the last two months. He loved to go camping and enjoyed barbecuing, grilling, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his parents; his wife of six years, Jennifer Leininger, of Madison; his children, Abele Jones and Gabriel Jones; his stepdaughter, Savannah Lashley; two brothers: Ricky Jones Jr. of Prescott and Tristin Jones of South Jordan, Utah; his grandmother, Juanita Sandoval of Klagetoh, Arizona; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James A. and Evelyn Mae Sam Jones, and his maternal grandfather, David Sandoval.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison’s hilltop. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday.

Caroline McCauley
Caroline M. Lynch McCauley, 90, of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Madison.
She was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Madison, to Robert Logan Lynch and Rosella Scarff. She was a 1948 graduate of Madison High School where she was the salutatorian and moved with her mother to Indianapolis and attended Indianapolis Business School, graduating in 1950. Her first job was with P.R. Mallory Company in Indianapolis and she later worked for D.A. Lubricant Company in Indianapolis. She married in 1953 and followed her husband to Germany where he was completing basic training after being drafted into the U.S. Army. Since he was a PFC, they had to live with a German family in a small village near the military post in Schweinfurt. While overseas, they utilized the opportunity to travel Europe and went to London and Paris and many other sites. They planned to visit Italy, but she returned to the U.S. after the death of her stepfather to assist her mother. After returning to Madison, she went to work for James F. Scott, CPA until starting her family. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Donald L. McCauley, of Madison; her daughters, Deborah K. Cross and Donna M. McCauley, both of Madison; her sons, Daniel K. McCauley and Darrin J. McCauley, both of Louisville; a half sister, Lynn Lynch Hughes of Nashville, Indiana; and eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in downtown Madison. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison. Friends may visit from, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Timothy Webster
Timothy Luke Webster, 48, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, in Trimble County, Kentucky.
He was born March 21, 1972, in Madison, Indiana, to Eunice Ann Moore. He attended school in Woodward, Oklahoma, where he lived for 11 years and returned to Trimble County in 1992. He worked as a laborer for a barge and towing company on the Ohio River for several years. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash, fishing, and canoeing on the Ohio River.
Survivors include his mother, Eunice Ann Moore, of Madison, Indiana; a daughter, Olivia Whitaker of Austin, Indiana; his fiancée, Melony Fisher-Webster, of Scipio, Indiana; his stepdaughter, Ashley Long of Scipio; his stepson, Collin Fisher of Madison; his sisters, Tammy Beitzel of Madison, Carrie Webster of Enid, Oklahoma and Christy Webster of Trimble County; a nephew he helped raise, Tanner Henry of Madison; and two granddaughters, six step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Rachel Mosier.
A memorial gathering and service will be conducted from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Charles Thomas “Tommy” Gross, 47, of Hanover, Indiana, died Monday, June 8, 2020, in the Emergency Room at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
He was born Jan. 4, 1973, in Madison, to Charles Edward Kinman and Mary Louise Wray Kinman Owens. He lived all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1992 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He loved participating in Special Olympics for many years, worked at Sandstone Industries for many years and the past four years at Royer Corporation in the printing department. He loved fishing, arts, crafts, bowling, bingo, basketball and going with the Venture Crew.
Survivors include his sisters, Regina Kinman and Diana Phillips, both of Madison, Cindy Mardello of Hanover and Mary Jo Owens of Laurel, Indiana; a brother, Frank Owens Jr. of Madison; his companion, Amber Griffin of Madison; and six nieces and nephews, a great nephew and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Frank A. Owens Sr. in 1987.

Nelson Leon “Bud” Horine, 78, of Madison, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at his home in Madison.
He was born Feb. 22, 1942, near Saluda in Jefferson County, Indiana, to Lawrence Russell and Eunice Pearl Bibb Horine. He was raised a Christian in the New Prospect Baptist Church, was a 1960 graduate of Saluda High School and attended Ball State University. He was a lifelong restauranteur, owning and operating the Steer Restaurant for 29 years, and founding the ETC. Cafeteria before serving as manager of food operations at Clifty Inn for 10 years. He loved food and enjoyed golf and tennis including annual golfing trips to Guntersville, Alabama. He held memberships in the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524 and the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Dottie S. “Junior” Vawter Horine, of Madison; his son, Greg Horine of Noblesville, Indiana; his daughters, Bethe A. Beaver of Noblesville, Julie Horine of Fishers, Indiana and Lisa Gemmer of Avon, Indiana; his bonus son, Brian Kimmel of Parker, Colorado; his bonus daughter, Jill McEldowney of Fishers; his brothers, Dr. Randall Horine of Indianapolis and Lawrence Stacey Horine of Madison; his sisters, Ruby Nichols, Janet Taff and Regina Kalb all of Madison; and 17 grandchildren, an aunt and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Nancy Lee Chester Landers, 68, of Vevay, Indiana, died Sunday, June 7, 2020, at her home.
She was born April 13, 1952, in Dayton, Kentucky, to Ernest Calvin and Mariam Ray Chester. She was raised in Dayton and graduated high school there. She drove for Amish families in Switzerland County, Indiana, for several years and was a homemaker. She was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel and a member of homemakers clubs in Switzerland County and Boone County, Kentucky. She attended New Liberty Baptist Church in East Enterprise, Indiana, and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, camping, bird watching and flowers.
Survivors include her husband of almost 30 years, Ted Phillip Landers of Vevay; her daughters, Amy Haas of Dayton and Elizabeth Dickman Cook of Stanton, Kentucky; a sister, Susan Chester of Dayton; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel Ernest Hoss; and a brother.

Duard H. “Sam” Speer, 96, of Indianapolis, died June 8, 2020.
He was born July 29, 1923, in Bedford, Indiana, to William Homer and Mae Speer. He was employed with Sears Roebuck & Co. as a division manager for many years.
Survivors include his children, Mark Speer and Judy Speer; grandchildren, Laura Mavretic and Linda Turkington; and great-grandchildren, Vivian and Niko Mavretic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hope Carleton Speer, on March 15, 2010; a son, Steve Speer; and a grandson, Sam Speer.

Gabrielle Taylor
Gabrielle Dawn Robinson Taylor, 41, of Sanders, Kentucky, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at her home in Sanders.
She was born in Belleville, Illinois, on March 18, 1979, to Larry Earl Robinson and Barbara Ann Carter Robinson of Sanders. She had worked as a private home health caregiver. She attended Grace Baptist Church in La Grange, Kentucky. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry and stories and loved to work on various types of craft projects.
Survivors include her mother; Barbara Ann Robinson and stepfather; James D. Dixon, of Sanders; three sons, Timothy O’Shea of St. Louis and Charlie and Logan Taylor, both of Underwood, Indiana; a brother, Ryan Wesley Robinson of Sanders; and two stepbrothers, Jimmy Dixon of Fairbanks, Alaska and Kenneth Dixon of Clarinda, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Kentucky. Joseph A. “Joey” Wall, 33, of Madison, Indiana, died Monday, June 8, 2020, in a motorcycle accident on Deputy Pike Road near Madison.
He was born Oct. 31, 1986, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, to Christopher A. Wall and Betty McCord Wall Richards. He was raised in Versailles, Indiana, and attended South Ripley High School later receiving his GED. He resided in Madison since 2003. He had worked for Bed-Tech in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for several years earlier in life. He then worked for Discount Auto Glass in Madison and had last worked at Arvin Sango in Madison in production. He enjoyed being a dad, listening to music, watching the Bengals and the Reds and riding motorcycles. He had been attending the North Madison Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife and companion of 11 years, Ashley Nicole Frisque Wall, of Madison; his father and stepmother, Chris and Sandy Wall of Versailles; his mother, Betty Richards of Aurora, Indiana; his children, Zane Wall, Brooklyn Frisque Wall, Jace Wall and Jordan Wall, all of Madison; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Murphy, of Vevay, Indiana; two brothers, Jeremy Wall of Pendleton, Indiana and Jesse Wall of Versailles; his sister, Cindi Wall; his stepsister, Kaycee Downey of Holton, Indiana; his stepbrother, Rich Werner of Aurora; a special friend, Richard Davis, of Madison; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Timothy Willis
Timothy Wayne “Tim” Willis, 65, of Bowling Green, Kentucky and formerly of Florence, Indiana, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at his home in Bowling Green.
He was born Jan. 16, 1955, in Milan, Indiana, to William Enoch “Buck” and Mary Elizabeth Brameier Willis. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Sept. 25, 1974 in Louisville, serving during the Vietnam War. He served in Germany and received the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman M16. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on Aug. 25, 1975, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was employed for American Racing as a machine operator and was a truck driver for 20 years. He lived in the Florence community most of his life and for 10 years in Virginia. He later moved to Bowling Green where he resided until his death. He was a member of the Florence Church of Christ in Florence.
Survivors include his son, Jesse Wayne Willis of Basye, Virginia; his grandchildren, Hunter and Blake Willis of Basye and a cousin, Jean Tinker of Vevay, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt, Ruth A. Brameier Schwade.
Interment will be held in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay.

Michael Wayne Whaley, 54, of Madison, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at his home in Madison.
He was born Feb. 20, 1966, in Cincinnati, to Danny R. Whaley Sr. and Wanda Ann Bruce Whaley. He grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from North East High in 1984 where he played baseball. He worked as a quality engineer at Fein Tool in Cincinnati for 20 years and Arvin Sango for a year. He was a member of Green Road Baptist Church in Madison and enjoyed volunteering at church and at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital. He loved riding motorcycles, the Cincinnati Bengals and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of five years, Sarah Leslie May Whaley of Madison; his son, Mark Anthony Whaley of Cincinnati; his mother, of Cincinnati; his stepsons, Nicholas Howley, Logan Chandler and Joshua Chandler of Madison; his sister, Pam Morgan of Cincinnati; a brother, Danny Royce Whaley Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska; and four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2018; a brother, Mark Whaley, in 1984; his daughter, Stephanie Ann Martin, in 2016, and his grandmother, Rosie Bruce, in 2008.

Jerry Wickey
Jerry R. Wickey, 61, of Canaan, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
He was born June 18, 1958, in Berne, Indiana, to Jacob J. and Rosina R. “Rosie” Schwartz Wickey. He was raised in Berne and had lived in the Pleasant, Bennington and Canaan communities in Indiana since 1988. He received his education and was of the Old Order Amish faith and cared for by his family until his death.
He is survived by his mother, of Bennington; his brothers, Reuben Wickey, Amos Wickey and Simon Wickey, all of Bennington, Andy Wickey and Rudy Wickey, both of Canaan, Jacob Wickey of Owingsville, Kentucky, Harvey Wickey and Eli Wickey, both of Cross Plains, Indiana; his sister, Mattie Wickey of Bennington; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; his sisters, Emma Wickey, Mary J. Wickey, Ruth Schwartz and Elizabeth J. “Lizzie” Wickey; and two nephews, a niece and numerous aunts and uncles.

Jean Johnson
Priscilla Jean Willey Johnson, 70, of Madison, Indiana, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at her home in Madison.
She was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Jefferson County, Indiana, to Noah and Evelyn Pauline Bloom Willey. She lived all of her life in Jefferson County, was of the Christian faith and graduated school there. She had worked for 20 years with Meyers Manufacturing as a seamstress and was currently employed with Royer Corporation as an administrative assistant for the past 28 years. She loved attending the Madison Regatta, the Block of the Month quilting club, and holding membership in the Vintage Hydroplane Club. She was devoted to her family, loved quilting, working in her flower gardens, playing with her cats and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, David Wayne Johnson, of Madison; a son, Doug Scott of Madison, Indiana; her daughters, Starr Donna Burke of Madison and Brenda Jean Scott of Worthville, Kentucky; a brother, Thomas Willey of Dennison, Texas; a sister, Holly Dill of Richmond, Indiana; and eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Noah Russell Willey, Michael Allen Willey and Stephen Willey; and four sisters, Maxine E. Pelsor, Betty M. Skirvin, Roseann Robbins and Faye Bentley.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
