Remington Asher
Remington Le-Nae Asher, infant daughter of Bethany Edmisten and Jeffery Asher of Madison, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at the IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison.
Betty Bennett
Betty P. Robbins Shelton Scott Bennett, 79, of Madison died Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at her home.
She was born April, 25, 1939, in Trimble County, Kentucky, to Noah V. and Georgia Ann Sharp Robbins. She grew up in Carrollton, Kentucky, and attended Carroll County High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her son, reading, sewing, gardening, playing cards, spending time with her friends and collecting Fenton glassware. While caring for her family and enjoying life she was a dedicated employee of Myers for six years and Rockwell Automation/Reliance Electric for 37 years, where she formed long-lasting friendships. She was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 Auxiliary and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her companion, Charles Douglas Bennett of Madison; one son, Gale Ray Scott of Florence, Mississippi; one brother, Tim Robbins of Carrollton; her best friends and caregivers, Sue Brown, Judy Brierly, Phyllis Craft, Betty Wagner, Liz Gatewood and Waunita Deveary; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter Valentine Robbins; and one sister, Doshie Robbins Sanders.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Indiana. Burial will follow in Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery in Campbellsburg, Kentucky.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Margaret L. Williams Leathermon, 87, of Madison, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Hosparus Inpatient Unit of Norton Pavilion in Louisville. Arrangements will be announced by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison.
John Satterly Jr.
John Wesley Satterly Jr., 89, of Pendleton, Kentucky, died Feb. 14, 2019, in LaGrange, Kentucky.
He was born March 19, 1929, in Louisville, to John Wesley Satterly Sr. and Carrie Eva Montgomery Satterly. He was an Army veteran who served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Kentucky, where he went to work in Oldham County as a blaster with dynamite. He moved to Trimble County and bought some land. There he raised his family of 10 children with his wife, Alice. His favorite thing to do was carefully tend the land. His favorite dog, Rusty, could always be found by his side.
He is survived by his children, Betty Freeman of LaGrange, Jerry Satterly, Terry Satterly and Patty Satterly, all of Pendleton; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; six children, Sandra, Donnie, Johnny, Carol, Cindy and Michael; and his parents.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Kentucky.
There was a graveside services immediately after at Bedford Cemetery.
Visitation was at the funeral home Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.
David Sexton
David Glenn Sexton, 50 of Jeffersonville, Indiana, died Thursday Feb. 14, 2019, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.
He was born on August 21, 1968, to Harold and Betty McCormick Sexton in Madison, Indiana. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Charlestown.
He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Sexton, and a son, Justin Sexton, of Plainfield, Indiana, and his mother, Betty Sexton of Jeffersonville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Celebration of Life services were Monday Feb. 18, 2019 at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center at 999 Water Street in Charlestown. Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

Gary Short Sr.
Gary Lee Short Sr., 61, of Deputy, Indiana, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
He was born March 11, 1957, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to Roy and Loeta Mae Huff Short. He lived in the Deputy area all of his life and graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1975. Early in life, he was blessed with the birth of his daughter, Kim. He then married Janet Lee Anderson on June 28, 1980, and they had a son and daughter. He owned and operated Short’s Farms and retired from Reliance Electric as a machine operator after 17 years of service. He was a member of Solid Rock Community Church. He enjoyed working on his farm, boating, fishing, traveling, his grandchildren and camping. He will be remembered for his saying, “Thanks for the good times boy’s and girls.”
He is survived by two daughters, Kim Short of Madison and Alicia Cyrus of Deputy; one son, Gary Lee Short Jr. of Deputy; his girlfriend, Tammy Guest of Hope; one stepchild, Preston Righthouse; two sisters, Debbie Short of Deputy and Tammy Short Halcomb of Madison; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lee Anderson Short, who died May 9, 2011; his parents; six brothers, Billy Short, Tommy Short, Rick Short, Jack Short, David Wayne Short, and Jimmy “Jim” Darrell Short; two sisters, Betty Elaine Carter, and Barbara Short Witt; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Solid Rock Community Church. Burial will follow in Lick Branch Cemetery near Deputy.
Visitation will be at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Betty Wise
Betty Jean McGuire Voris Wise, 67, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at her home near Nabb, Indiana.
She was born Feb. 3, 1952 in Madison, Indiana, to Charles William McGuire Sr. and June Orena Keeting McGuire. She was raised in Madison and was proud to receive her GED at the age of 50. She was united in marriage in 1965 to William Howard Voris Sr. and this union was blessed with five children. She was employed for many years in the laundry at King’s Daughters’ Hospital until her health no longer permitted her to do so. She had owned and operated Betty’s Nifty Fifties Restaurant in New Washington and had worked for Trish Hereford at her car wash. On Oct. 18, 2000, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Wise in Chelsea, Indiana. She was of the Christian faith and had attended New Bethel Church near Chelsea. She enjoyed camping, participating in Kamp Kettle Bottom Camp, gardening, flowers, dirt track racing and cooking out. She was a devoted wife, loving mom and mimi and was an awesome cook who loved preparing delicious meals for her family. She fought a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She is survived by her husband, of Nabb; her mother, June Orena Keeting McGuire Davidson of Nabb; her sons, William Howard Voris II of Saluda, Indiana, and Eric Voris and Anthony Voris of Madison; her daughter, Evelyn Whelan of Madison; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Pamela Reed of Austin, Arkansas, and Barbara Hauser of Pekin, Indiana; two half-brothers, Billy McGuire of Bloomington, Indiana, and Jimmy McGuire of Lanesville, Indiana; her stepdad, Bill Buchanan of Madison; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was awaiting the birth of her first great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, James Adam Voris; two half-sisters, Kathy Stinson and Mary Bratcher, one half-brother, Leonard McGuire, and her stepfather, Roscoe Davidson.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
