Cathryn Cull

Cathryn I. Cull, 88, of Milton, Kentucky, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Milton, the daughter of Calvin and Margaret Howe McCord. She was a homemaker and a member of Milton Christian Church. She loved fishing, scratch-off Lottery tickets, gardening, watching TV and her dog, Jack.

She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Henderson of Madison; two sons: Rick Cull of Milton, and Ronald Cull of Providence, Kentucky; one sister: Willanna McDole of Milton; her companion, Luke McCarty of Milton; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Pete” Cull, whom she married March 11, 1947, one son, Richard Cull; three brothers, Roger, Joe, and Johnny McCord; and one sister, Colene Snell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wook Oakley Chapel in Milton. Burial will follow in Moffett Cemetery in Milton.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Becky Goebel

Rebecca “Becky” Jane King Goebel, 89, of Madison died Monday, August 6, 2018, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Joshua Green

Joshua Allen Green, 40, of Madison died Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at St. Mary & St. Elizabeth in Louisville.

He was born Feb. 16, 1978, in Madison. He lived most his life in Madison and was a 1996 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. In high school, he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball and later attended college in Pensacola, Florida. He had worked as a self-employed painter, bartender and car salesman. He had last worked with Eagles Landing, where he worked on the horse farm and helped with painting. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Milton, Kentucky, where he was baptized. He loved music, was an avid fan of UK basketball, any kind of electronic device and being with family and friends. He entered the Eagle’s Landing Sober Living home in Prospect, Kentucky, in January of this year. He was working hard at his sobriety and was sober most of the six months.

He is survived by his mother, Georgeann Barnes Green Sixkiller of Bentonville, Arkansas; his father, James Richard Green of Madison; two half-brothers, Tyler Sixkiller of Bentonville, Arkansas, Derek Green of North Vernon, Indiana; one half-sister, Kristin Getchell of Greenwood, Indiana; three stepbrothers, Timothy Burton of Turners Station, Kentucky, Casey Chadwell of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Jonathan Chadwell of Milton; one stepsister, Emily Chadwell of Milton; his maternal grandmother, Georgetta Scott of Madison; one great-aunt; one great-uncle; five aunts; three uncles; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service. The family requests in honor of Josh, please wear something UK.

Mike Proctor 

Michael L. “Mike” Proctor, 54, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1964, in Carrollton, the son of Lewis Hayes Proctor and Mae Dell Mahoney Proctor. He had owned Proctor’s Garage in Carrollton for several years, doing automotive repair work. He had worked in the construction industry in his younger days and then went on to work at Gene’s Garage in Carrollton before owning his own automotive repair shop. He had served as a volunteer for the former Carroll County Rescue Squad for several years. He enjoyed participating and being involved with Demolition Derby’s at local county fairs. He had helped coach little league sports for several years. Though he had many health problems in his life, he never let that slow him down and was always willing to lend a helping hand to people who needed his help. He dearly loved being a “Grandpa”.

He is survived by one son, Sam Proctor of Carrollton; his parents of Carrollton; one stepson, Jarod Martin of Carrollton; two sisters, Teresa Taulbee and Charlotte Horine of Carrollton; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Cindy Lu Martin, who died Jan. 8, 2018; one step-son, Eric Scott Mahoney; and one grandson.

There will be a graveside service Thursday at 11 a.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Visitation will be at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Walter Rich

Walter William Rich, 77, of Madison, died Monday, August 6, 2018, at Hanover Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 11, 1941, in Vergennse, Vermont, the son of Ernest and Marie Antoinette Dominique LaPlant Rich. His early life was spent in Vermont, later moving to Florida and then settling in Madison. He had worked for Meese MFG for five years, then as an over-the-road truck driver for three years. He spent 25 years with Grote Industries as a line supplier and was a tandem and tri-axel truck driver for Sedam Contracting for 10 years. He then worked for Goode and Tandy for seven years before retiring. He was raised in the Catholic faith and was a very spiritual man. He loved traveling with his wife on his 1976 Electra-Glide Harley Davidson for several years. He enjoyed raising pigs, farming, CB radios, collecting miniature motorcycles, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay Moore Rich of Madison, whom he married Jan. 29, 1971; two daughters, Lisha Mahoney and Christina “Tina” Fresh, both of Madison; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Phyllis Smith

Phyllis Marie Wehner Smith, 88, of Hanover died Monday, August 6, 2018, at The Waters of Clifty Falls.

She was born April 30, l940, in Madison, the daughter of Charles Henry and Letha Louise Kessler Wehner. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and graduated from North Madison High School in l948. She retired from Hanover College after 15 years of service as a cook for Phi Mu Sorority. She had also worked for Gina’s Diner. She was a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking and baking. She was well-known for her homemade pies and other specialty dishes. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, grandma and great-grandma and her family had lovingly cared for her since the death of her husband.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Shuck of Normal, Indiana, Corliss Boldery and Annette Hoskins, both of Madison, and Marilyn Scully of Deputy, Indiana; one son, Dennis Wayne Smith of Hanover; one brother, Harlen Wehner of Madison; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Emerson Smith, whom she married July 28, 1948, and who died July 2, 2011; her parents; four sisters, Helen L. Ritchie, who died Dec. 16, 2013, Imogene Cline, who died Oct. 16, 2016, Aneta C. Furnish, who died Jan. 14, 2017, and Letha Ebley Long, who died March 5, 2018; five brothers, Ernest O. Wehner, who died Sept. 25, 1978, Charles Robert Wehner, who died Dec. 20, 1996, Raymond G. Wehner, who died Oct. 3, 1997, Leo O. Wehner, who died March 18, 2007, and Gerald H. Wehner, who died Dec. 25, 2016 three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will follow in Bayless Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Hazel Thomason

Hazel Garrison Thomason, 95, of Madison died Monday, August 6, 2018, at River Terrace Health Campus.
