Jonathan Licklider

Jonathan Paul Licklider, 57, of Frankfort, Kentucky and formerly of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville.

He was born Feb. 24, 1963, in Carroll County, Kentucky, to John Paul and Wanda Jean Skirvin Licklider. Her was a member of First Baptist Church in Carrollton and was self-employed as a master carpenter.

Survivors include his parents, of Carrollton; his wife of two years, Rhonda Garriott Licklider; a son, Jonathan Paul Roger Licklider, USMC Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Macy Elise Smith, of Lexington, Kentucky; a stepson, Mason Parker Smith, of Lexington; a sister, Jeanne Licklider Brindley of Carrollton; and a niece.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group, 401 Highland Avenue, Carrollton, KY 41008 or in care of the funeral home.

Virginia McCarty

Virginia I. “Gigi” Roberts McCarty, 98, of Fleming Island, Florida, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at her home there.

She was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Zanesville, Ohio, to William A. Z. Roberts and Minnie Pearl Wilkins Roberts. She grew up, married and lived in Zanesville until 1954 when she and her family moved to Madison, Indiana. She lived in Madison until 2011 when she moved to Fleming Island for her final years. She worked as an administrative assistant for a number of companies in Madison including Jefferson County Health Department, Grote Manufacturing and James Scott CPA. She was a talented seamstress, excellent cook and loved to play all card games. She was active in church at St. Patrick’s/Prince of Peace Catholic Church and as a docent for Historic Madison.

Survivors include her children, Judy Shipley and Stephanie Harrell, both of Madison; Susan Kaelin of Fleming Island and Daniel McCarty of Troy, Michigan; and nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack McCarty, in 1993; her daughter, Cathy Carnes, in 1976; four brothers, Leo, Harry, Bob and Virgil Roberts and her sister, Dorothy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Madison. Arrangements entrusted to Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Patsy Miles

Patsy Kay Miles, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at her home near Ghent, Kentucky.

She was born April 20, 1937, in Warsaw, Kentucky, to Estel and Dorothy Anderson Miles. She attended First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Kentucky, worked for many years as an inspector at Teledyne-Wirz Factory in Carrollton and in the security department at Belterra Casino and Resort in Florence, Indiana. She enjoyed the outdoors doing yard work, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her sisters and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Perkins of Owenton, Kentucky and Candice Conn of Wake Forest, North Carolina; a son, Marty McIntyre of Ghent, Kentucky; two sisters, Rebecca McBurney of Carrollton, Kentucky and Debbie Bickers of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, Charles “Billy” Miles of Murray, Kentucky and Terry Miles of Perry Park, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Theresa Moore; four sisters, Betty Couch, Rita Booth, Anita Kelso and Jackie Griffin; two brothers, David Miles and Jimmy Miles; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Dara Swanson

Dara Daniela Meyers Swanson, 55, of Bennington, Indiana, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at her home in Bennington.

She was born June 15, 1965, in Washington, Indiana, to Lawrence Elwood Meyers and Treva Gay Raney Meyers Ragle. She was raised and baptized in the First Christian Church in Washington, was a 1983 graduate of Grace Christian School in Washington and attended Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. She first married David Martin in 1984 and later married Dana Carroll Swanson in 2008. She was formerly employed by Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana, Dorman Products in Warsaw, Kentucky and the Fairview Grocery Store in Fairview, Indiana. She was currently employed for Fastenal Company in Ghent, Kentucky. She enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of her family, was always up for a motorcycle ride with her husband or a shopping spree on Amazon.

Survivors include her husband of Bennington; her sons, Levi Martin and Samuel Isaac Martin, both of Louisville; her stepdaughter, Angela Swanson of Daleville, Indiana; her stepson, Clint Swanson of Bedford, Indiana; her sister, Rachel Lea of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; her brothers, Paul Meyers of Sparta, Michigan and Shawn Meyers of New Castle, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Aaron Daniel Martin; and her stepfather, Donald Raglen.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, Indiana. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required for all services.

Patricia Yacko

Patricia Joan “Pat” Grimes Yacko, 80, of Hanover, Indiana, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.

She was born Oct. 23, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Patrick and Janet McEwen Grimes. Her parents were killed when she was very young and she was raised by her uncle and aunt. She graduated school in Glasgow, completed nursing school there and worked for some time in Scotland. On April 9, 1971, she married Nicholas Julian Yacko who was serving there in the US Army and they traveled the world together until his retirement. She came to the US in 1971, settling in Portage, Indiana, became a US Citizen and received her GED attending Portage Night School. She volunteered for many years at St. John’s Hospital in Hobart, Indiana and was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Hobart. After living 30 years in Portage, they moved to Hanover on Sept, 5, 2014, and enjoyed membership in various local clubs including the Celtic Society. She enjoyed spending time at Thomas Family Winery in downtown Madison, sewing, making crafts, loved her dogs and cats and volunteering at area nursing homes in the activities department.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years; her twin sister, Margaret May Grimes of Glasgow; her half sister, Carolyn Daniels of United Kingdom; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ewen and Dick Grimes; and the uncle and aunt who raised her.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Madison. Interment will follow in the cemetery there. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until time of services Friday at the chapel.

Ruth Bright

Ruth Ann Page Bright, 81, of Hanover, Indiana, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at the Hickory Creek of Madison in Madison, Indiana. She was born May 14, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Theodore and Thelma Simmons Page. She resided all of her life in Jefferson County and attended school there. She married Allen Leroy Bright on Oct. 27, 1956 and they had two daughters. She was a homemaker and enjoyed writing poetry — including publishing a book of poems — working puzzles and caring for her cats and family. She was a lifetime member of North Madison Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 64 years, of Hanover; her daughters, Lee Ann Eitel of Seminole, Florida and Donna Lynn Gassert of Hanover; and five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Dennis Housefield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy June Cochran, 84, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at the Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

James Eldridge

James Eugene Eldridge, 60, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.

He was born August. 16, 1959, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to James Avery Eldridge and Joyce Etta Nalley Watkins.

He worked for Hussey Copper in Eminence, Kentucky, and was a fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Survivors include his daughters, Nicole Eldridge of Bedford, and Erika Cook of Smithfield, Kentucky; his brother, Billy Parks of Smithfield, Kentucky; his sisters, Jean Parsons of Bagdad, Kentucky, Julie Wilson of Bedford, Donna Tipton of Defoe, Kentucky, Marie Carey of Turners Station, Kentucky, Brenda Gilly of Montana, and Dolly Tucker of Eminence; and four grandchildren and his stepmother, Connie Eldridge of Belfont, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Leona Keller

Leona Augusta Keller, 53, of Greensburg, Indiana and formerly of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020 at St. Francis.

She was born on June 10, 1967, in Monticello, Kentucky, to Earl and Violet Wyatt Starks. She married Marvin Keller in 1984 and they had four children. She worked at Valeo and previously had worked at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home as a CNA. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing bingo and was known for her chocolate pie and potato candy.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years; her children, Carl Keller, Derick Keller, Chad Keller and Charla Fogle; a sister, Eva Bell; three brothers, Earl Starks Jr., Kevin Starks and Curtis Starks; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 14, at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg.

James McCoy

James “Bobby” Robert McCoy, 67, of Madison, Indiana, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.

He was born May 19, 1953, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Russell Dale and Blanche Irene DeBusk McCoy. He resided early in life in Clark and Jefferson counties, Indiana, attending New Washington and Southwestern schools. He married Sharon Ann Jester on June 30, 1999. He was raised in the Baptist faith and loved riding motorcycles with his wife. He attended many trade schools for certifications in concrete and retired as plant manager of Irving Materials after 23 years of service. He had previously worked 12 years for Ohio Valley Paving in Carrollton, Kentucky, and for the Madison River Terminal. He was a member of R.C. Modeling Club as a trainer on model airplanes and helicopters and liked fishing, playing cards, building things, computer games, tinkering on cars and motorcycles, building and playing guitars and was known for his sarcastic humor.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years; his daughters, Linda McCoy Van Horn of New Albany, Indiana and Tara McCoy of Madison; his son, Travis Stevens of Madison; his sisters, Rita “Cookie” McCoy Yeo of North Billerica, Massachusetts and Cathy McCoy Lake of Louisville; his brothers, Russell “Ernie” McCoy of Underwood, Indiana and Donald Glen McCoy of Indiana; and three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and half sister, Betty Jo McCoy Daniel and Dixie Lou McCoy and his brothers and half brothers, Darrell Gene McCoy, Harold “Eddie” McCoy, Dallas Lee McCoy and Timothy “Tim” McCoy.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.
