If you are over 16 Years Old, You Just May Be Interested in Participating in a New Eight Week Weight Loss Challenge which has been officially presented to the Indiana County of Jefferson.
You could earn money and more importantly, you could lose weight that you may need to lose.
It starts in one week…
The Healthy Communities Initiative of Jefferson County is calling it “Lighten Up Jefferson County” and it’s the first ever county-wide weight loss challenge.
This challenge focuses on weight loss, and is designed for everyone within the county over the age of 16.
The eight-week challenge will begin the week of January 15th and will end the week of March 12th.
Developed by the 40 community members of the Healthy Lifestyles team, one of the three Healthy Communities of Jefferson County’s teams, there is a $5 buy-in for those who wish to participate.
The top three winners determined by their percentage of weight lost will divide the pool proceeds.
The top winner will earn 50% of the pool, second place will receive 25% of the pool and third place will receive 15% of the pool.
The remaining 10% will be donated to the local charity of the top winner’s choice.
To join the challenge, individuals will need to attend one of the three official required sign-in/weigh-in dates at the Brown Gym as follows: Tuesday, January 16 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 17 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or Thursday, January 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Three free nutrition programs are planned during the weight loss challenge which all be held at the KDH Conference Center – Oak Rooms 1 & 2:
- Portion Distortion on Wed. January 24th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. presented by Tonya Maschino and Sue Livers which will focus on how portion sizes can help with weight loss.
- What Do You Have to Lose on Tues. February 6th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. presented by Sierra Rogers and Amanda Corbin which will offer tips on healthy weight loss including cooking tips and tricks.
- Liquid Lookout on Tues. February 20th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. presented by Heather Foy and Stacy Crawley which will address how the liquids we consume are often a big percentage of our overall caloric consumption.
