Two Scott County Men Have Been Arrested and Charged with Sexual Misconduct with a Minor
On Tuesday, September 5th, and according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the Department of Child Services went to the 1300 block of Polk Road in Lexington, IN in reference to a welfare check on a female juvenile.
After speaking with her it was determined that she had been a victim of a sex offense.
Several Deputies began an investigation where it was then learned that the victim had been sexually abused by two adult males.
The first suspect, found at his place of employment, Alexander Gomez, 38, fled on foot when law enforcement first arrived there, but was shortly thereafter located and taken into custody.
During that search, the second suspect, Obedo Gomez, 26, arrived at the Polk Road location.
After Alexander admitted to sexual intercourse with the 13 year old girl, he and Obedo were transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
On Wednesday, September 6th, the two men were interviewed by an Indiana Gaming Commission Investigator and both admitted to the illegal act.
Alexander Gomez was charged with 2 counts of Level 1 felony Child Molestation and Obedo Gomez was charged with 1 count of Level 1 Felony Child Molestation.
The sentencing range for this kind of crime is 20 – 40 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
On Thursday, September 7th, Alexander and Obedo Gomez had their initial hearings in the Jefferson Circuit Court and were both given a $50,000 cash only bond.
Obedo Gomez also had his initial hearing in Jefferson Circuit Court.
He was also given a $50,000 cash only bond.
No contact orders were also issued to both men are to have no contact with the victim in this case.
The Sheriff’s Department reminds that these suspects that have been arrested are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
