The Stellar Madison Pledges Keep Rolling in From Local Businesses and the City is Full of Upside-Down Frowns About it.

This week, the City of Madison, Koehler Tire & Welding, and the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson County have announced that Koehler has pledged $10,000 toward the “Stellar Madison Fund” at the Community Foundation.

For those that haven’t yet heard, the Stellar Madison Fund will be used to assist in bringing all of the Stellar projects to completion.

As of now, some of the projects included in the Stellar plan include finishing the Madison Connector trail, improving local parks, rehabilitating historic buildings like the Cotton Mill, and repairing and replacing sidewalks.

For more detail, the funds pledged and given to the Stellar Madison Fund at the Community Foundation will be split 65/35, with 65% of pledged funds going to projects immediately, while 35% will go toward a long-term fund to sustain the projects long into the future.

Dave Ungru, owner of Koehler Tire & Welding said the program “gives Madison an opportunity to improve its infrastructure and strengthen its economic development. Over the years, the city of Madison has supported our family and our businesses. It’s with great honor that we in turn show our support for our community and make a donation to Stellar.”

“Dave has been a relentless advocate for our community through Envision Jefferson County, Cub Manufacturing, the Heritage Trail, and Stellar Communities. I am grateful for the entire Ungru family and the Koehler Tire & Welding staff for modeling corporate citizenship through their support of our community initiatives,” said Mayor Damon Welch.

According to a press release from the city, other financial pledges will be announced in the coming weeks. Businesses and individuals that are interested in supporting the Stellar Madison Fund can contact Nicole Schell or Andrew Forrester at the Mayor’s Office or Bill Barnes at the Community Foundation.

Madison was designated as a Stellar Community in October 2017.
