Madison and Hanover Libraries Offering Variety of December Activities

The Madison and Hanover Libraries are Offering a Full Array of Programs for Patrons of All Ages in December, ranging from crafts to authors to movies.

Adult Holiday Reading Program ~ December 1 to January 31

For each book read, submit an entry form at either library. One Kindle Fire winner each week.

Loose Ends Craft Group ~ December 4, 11 & 18                                        5:00pm                  Hanover Library

Craft enthusiasts bring their latest projects to Hanover. All types of crafts and levels of experience are welcome. Pam Sinsel, Instructor.

Knitting: Cup of Cocoa Ornament ~ December 5                  5:00pm                  Hanover Library

Instructor Pam Sinsel will teach the class to knit an ornament. Knitters need basic knitting skills, and will need to bring size 5 straight needles, 18” thin gold ribbon, and yarn needle. Yarns and fiberfill provided. To register, call 812-866-1470.

Santa Claus at Hanover ~ December 9                                          2:00pm                  Hanover Library

Children will have the opportunity to tell Santa their special holiday wishes. Free gift bags. No registration required.

Author Visit: Jared Roger Daniels ~ December 11               6:00pm                  Madison Library

Rogers is a staff writer for Ripley Publishing Company newspapers, where he focuses on community news, events, and people. He has compiled the writings of William H. “Gus” Moorhead, who played four years of varsity basketball for the Madison Cubs (1944-47) and the Hanover Panthers (1948-51), before coaching the Versailles Lions for 15 seasons and the consolidated South Ripley Raiders for two seasons (1952-68). For over 14 years in retirement, Gus wrote the weekly columns, The Ol’ Coach Sez and Double Dribbles, for Ripley Publishing Company newspapers (1991-2006). He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980, the Hanover College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995, and the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. Rogers will discuss his role in editing Moorhead’s papers, as well as tell some stories about his basketball experiences. Adult. Free. No registration required.

Stations set up for creating ornaments, glove monsters, lip scrub, and cocoa cones. Something for everyone! All ages welcome. Free. Space is limited. Registration required.

Knitting: Fair Isle Santas ~ December 12 & 19                        5:00pm                  Hanover Library

Knit holiday ornaments. Knitters need intermediate knitting skills, and will need to bring size 7 double point needles, stitch markers, and yarn needle. Yarns and fiberfill provided. This craft is two sessions. Pam Sinsel, Instructor. Registration required.

Bullet Journal Workshop ~ December 12                                                    6:00pm          Madison Library 812-265-2744

Intrigued with the idea of having one place to record and organize basically any of your tasks, goals, habits or ideas in every area of your life? Bullet Journals have captured the attention of those who desire to store disparate information in one place.  At this session, leader Stephanie Reeves will teach participants to create their personal journal. Registration required. Space is limited. Materials provided, but participants may bring paper craft supplies for personalization of their journal. Adult and Teen.

Keepsake Crafts ~ December 16                                                                        10am – 12pm     Madison Library 812-265-2744
Create a beautiful piece of art to cherish for years to come.  This is a family program, all ages are welcome.  We will make hand print and footprint art using paint and paper.  Participants will also get to make one hand print or footprint impression to take home to bake.  Supplies provided.  Free. All ages welcome! Minion fun on our big screen.  BYO blanket.  Popcorn and drinks provided.  The movie runs
90 minutes and is rated PG. Free. No registration required.
