Hanover Hill Was Closed for 11 Hours Due to Downed Power Lines on Sunday, October 21st, 2018.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the hill which is more specifically State Road 56 along the elevation from Downtown Madison to the Hanover intersection of 56 and 62, was closed half of the day after heavy winds were brought in to the region Saturday Night.

Duke Energy was notified but authorities did not know for a while about when an estimated time for the repairs to be made would be.

Drivers were advised to not try and drive around the barricades that were set up and were there for safety and the safety of the workers trying to make the repairs.

Just after 3pm the same day, the barricades were moved and the scenic passageway was reopened.
