Body of Man Found in a North Vernon Lake Has Been Identified

According to the Indiana State Police, yesterday, September 18th, an autopsy was completed on a man who was found deceased in a lake along Forest Grove Lane in Country Squire Lakes near North Vernon, Indiana on September 17th.

The man has been identified as Chad Stearns, age 30 of North Vernon.

At this time no foul play is suspected.

Toxicology results are still pending.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Stearns’ family has been notified.


A body has been found in North Vernon and authorities are looking for answers.

According to the Indiana State Police, just after 7:30PM yesterday, September 17th, troopers responded to Forest Grove Lane in the Country Squire Lakes Subdivision after a body was located in a lake.

At this time, the deceased white adult male remains unidentified and the cause of death is unknown.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today in Seymour, Indiana to attempt to determine a cause of death and the identity of the victim.
