As Klan Announces September Rally, We Look at Why They Return to Madison

August 3, 2018

A group that gave the name Honorable Sacred Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has reserved Jaycee Park on Vaughn Drive for a rally and cookout Saturday, Sept. 1.
The Madison Parks Department confirmed the group plans to be in the park from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Annual Rockin’ on the River car show featuring live music all day will go on as scheduled on Vaughn Drive and the footprints of the two events do not overlap.
The Madison Police Department will be working with the group and the parks department to create a safety plan for the event, said Andrew Forrester, head of community relations for the city.
A group called Knights of the Ku Klux Klan was the last group to have an organized rally in Madison.
That group was along the riverfront on May 27, 2017.
It is unclear at this time if the Honorable Sacred Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has any connection to the previous group or where the group scheduled for September 1st is from.

Here is a Video we produced last year where we talk to a klan member as well as those opposed to their ideas.

Here is a Video we produced last year where we covered a klan rally at Fireman’s Park which took place in May of 2017.

And here is a Video we produced in 2016 when a klan rally took place the same day as the Madison Chautauqua.
